You can’t act a color

COLOR ME HUMAN: There is no race that’s better than the other, smarter than the other, better spoken, more successful than the other.

What does it mean to act black? How can you act a certain color? If someone were to tell you to act orange how would you even respond to them?

This whole black and white thing is just another petty topic we argue about in America. Society says that being black means to talk loud and speak improper. What really makes a white person’s speech different from a black person’s?

Many in society question our intelligence and our capability to be successful based on statistics. They judge all black men and put them into one category of being an unsupportive father, a thug, just another jailbird.

But that’s not all true.

If people were to take the time to stop judging and just look around for a moment, maybe they would see the black fathers who work two jobs to provide for their families, to make sure they have food on the table and a roof over their head at the end of the day. The black men who have their degrees and have jobs. The ones who take the time to care and make sure young boys in the hood stay off the streets.

People don’t take the time to care and try to fit into someone else’s shoes. They just judge based off appearance.

I’m not saying all white people think this way; in fact black people judge white people too. I just think both races secretly want to be like the other race every once in a while.

The reality of it all is that at the end of the day we’re all human we all make mistakes. There is no race that’s better than the other, smarter than the other, better spoken, more successful than the other.

We were all put on this earth with a different purpose and each and every one is important; whether it’s to be a great father, a truck driver, a boss of a multimillion company, politician, to being a waitress.

There is no black and white. We’re all people who fall off and make mistakes once in a while, people who go through struggles and suffer from pain.

If we all could just take the time to stop and get to truly know one another, then maybe we’d have a better appreciation for each other.
