Tip-off
Last season both the Hurricane Junior Varsity and Varsity basketball teams suffered losses to Oxbridge Academy.
Earlier this season they lost to the Thunderwolfs again in their gym.
When Oxbridge visited Inlet on Jan. 25, however, the Junior Varsity team managed to come out with a win, while the Varsity suffered another loss.
“The JV game was intense and Varsity was good also,” said Assistant Principal Ms. Pientka. “They’re always good to watch, the teams never give up.”
Although the Oxbridge Varsity team outplayed the Varsity Hurricanes, they still manage to keep high spirits on and off the court.
“The teams had good composure on the court and good sportsmanship,” Ms. Pientka said. “They handled the outcome very professionally kept their heads up and was positive.”
“The first game was OK,” said varsity player Artist Newby, “but I could see the difference in this games from the first time we played them that we was trying harder.”
He and the players said that between the games to this night the teams had worked harder and better, and performed better as a whole, their team chemistry has gotten stronger.
“The season went good could have been better and wish we would’ve won more games,” said Newby.
