Life Changers nominee, Ms. Pawlin
Transformative Leader
Life Changers of the Year is an annual program recognizing K-12 educators and school employees across the country. Reading teacher Ms. Pawlin has been nominated for the Life Changer Award, that will take place in 2020.
“Life Changers is all about a person who made a positive impact and changing the life in a positive manner of a student or a colleague and for the fact that they made a difference in that person’s life,” said Ms. Pawlin. The winner of the award will be given a donation of $5,000 to their school.
“Well I know that the school will get a $5,000 donation that is part of the prize and then I will receive the $5,000, which will go into school supplies, computers, reading materials, my classroom, towards any school supplies,” said Ms. Pawlin.
”I don’t want the money for myself I want it for my students, because they are the ones who need it the most.”
She said that she wanted to take her experiences from her childhood, since she didn’t have a positive impact as a child, and become a role model for her students and to remind them that there will be hope for a better future.
She also said that she cares for her students and willing to be above and beyond for them and that what makes her accomplished.
“I didn’t know that she was being nominated for the award, but I give her honor on being nominated for this award,” Jordan Albert , a Junior in the Web Design Academy said.
Ms. Pawlin received multiple nominations in the community. Many students believed they would have to drop out in order to make money, and a big portion of students felt like they had to be in school because they were required.
“I am very proud of her and the work that she does for our students. I believe that we have a lot of outstanding teachers in our staff and we should find an avenue to recognize them. This is only one way. Hopefully this will encourage other teachers to do the same,” said Mr.Lopez.
Because of Mrs. Pawlin, the students love coming to school, according to the Life Changers of the Year website.
“I am very excited for this nomination,” she said.
