While women’s history has often been ignored or even erased over the decades, many women have made huge impacts on society through activism, art, politics and leadership. Women’s History Month is a perfect occasion to discover more about female empowerment. Oprah Winfrey, a  women in history as the  first African-American woman to own her own production company, a talented actress nominated for an Academy Award in her first movie television’s highest-paid entertainer,  and producer . With her continued success, Oprah Winfrey became a billionaire. She co-produced a Broadway musical version of The Color Purple, created the Oprah.com website, and launched a 24-hour channel called Oprah Radio on XM Satellite Radio. Oprah Winfrey is one of the women who takes part in the empowerment movement. Her actions and words never fail to impress and inspire people in the way she intends to.
