On August 26 at 11:45am, Hurricanes were put in a code yellow.
Most teachers and faculty members were confused about the code yellow because they hadn’t received an e-mail beforehand.
Around the time that yellow code had started, the Senior class was in the auditorium closest to the front gate. The majority of Seniors started to be confused and panicked.
Rumors were already spreading as students were texting each other.
Most Canes started saying that an active shooter was on campus, others said that it was a bomb threat created by two Juniors.
As the Seniors were in the auditorium, the rest of the students were in their classes awaiting Mr. Lopez to give the code green. 15 minutes passed by, yet nothing. Most students started to realize this was not a drill.
This was a real code yellow and we could be in danger.
Now, forty-five minutes have passed and all the Seniors in the auditorium are sitting in the dark. All of a sudden, we hear Mr. Lopez on the PA system saying that we are still in a code yellow and they have informed the police. The policemen have surrounded the school.
About a half hour later Mr. Mcdermott tells all the Seniors that they are moving from the auditorium to the gym but we have to be quiet as we move.
We keep moving until we get inside the gym. Seniors were told to sit on the right side of the gym by Mr. Mcdermott and stay put until the code yellow clears.
As we were all sitting in the gym, the rest of the students from different grade levels came into the gymnasium and sat on the bleachers in fear of what was going to happen.
Then, the roof in the gym starts leaking making things 10 times worse.
About an hour goes by and Principle Lopez announces that we are all in a code green and the hurricane has passed.
Nobody was injured in the events this Monday thanks to our amazing administration and staff but, the fear of the mysterious code yellow will never leave.
