The Musical at the Kravis Center was on February 13, has yet made an enchanting experience that blended the nostalgic feeling of growing up as a kid. The production showcased the magic of Neverland, the captivating music, and visual scenes that made it a night to remember.
As the curtains rise we see Wendy, John, and Michael in their bedroom getting ready for bed while their mother Mrs. Darling tucks them in. Mr. Darling who has the more stern but affectionals figure showcasing the warmth of the family.
Later the “I’m flying” track where Peter teaches the children how to fly was an absolute highlight. The characters soaring through the air and the orchestra following along with their malonic music.
When the lost boys first appear on stage they immediately grab the audiences attention with their enthusiasm. Dressed in ragged, nature inspired costumes, their appearances hinted at their freedom in Neverland. Peter is not only their leader but also a source of inspiration.
Cody Garcia who plays Captain Hook made an entrance that brought a darker yet captivating energy to the stage. “Hook song” where the villain’s obsession with revenge came to life through a menacing melody and dramatic singing.
Wendy, played by a talented actress named Hawa Kamara. Her performance in Neverland was beautiful and it conveyed her inner conflicts of wanting to stay in Neverland knowing she must eventually grow up.
Peter Pan played by Jonah Barricklo showed the most amazing acting skills and brought laughter throughout the crowd, putting emotions and passion throughout his role just as the movie and guiding the kids through Neverland was captivating.
The ending scene was the best as everyone in the play came out together and took the stage. It shows all that they put onto the stage making it possible to experience the childhood-like experience we had back then. Then to sum it all up confetti was blasted into the crowd making the ending of the play have an amazing ending and left everyone cheering and talking about it the whole way out.
I recommend this theatre play and it’s going on from February 12-16. The peter pan musical was a good production that succeeded in showing the timeless tale and bringing energy to it. The choreograph, the standout performances from the cast especially the actors portraying peter and wendy made for a perfect part.
