Ms. Whitfield is the pre-law teacher at Inlet Grove. She started teaching Pre-law last school year, around February. She first came to observe the law program, but then started teaching the law.
She was interested in criminology, which led her to practice law. She went to the University of Miami to practice law. Later, she did 50 jury trials and appeared on the news and in a newspaper. She loved the courthouse and how it was her stage to shine. Yes, she was nervous and wanted to do a good job for her clients, and she did,
” I would never have thought I would be teaching pre-law,…” Years from now, she is teaching the Pre-law career at Inlet Grove Community High School. She thought it was interesting, challenging, and exciting that there would be opportunities for young people, as she said, “so it’s my turn to give back,…”.
“I want them to understand reading and have confidence,… Grasping to feel to be a lawyer, not everybody is built for it, it takes hard work,…”, says Ms. Whitfield. She wants to teach the ways and how it truly is to be a lawyer.
“Ms. Whitfield’s class is pretty chill. She is sometimes serious and sometimes funny,”. Says student 1. ” She knows how to teach her class and when it’s the time to get funny or serious,” says student 2.
“Coming into the pre-law program, I expected so much paperwork,…, there is a nice environment.”, says student 3. “Also, coming into the pre-law program, I expected to learn more about the law and how they do things…, Ms. Whitfield is very understanding and is real when it comes down to things,” says student 4. Ms. Whitfield is having an impact on these young men and women who want to practice law.
“It’s not what I expected,…” says student 5, “it’s like a hands-on experience for me.”. ” The pre-law program is a good experience. I expected to learn a lot about the Constitution and the amendments, and how it is important,” says student 6. Ms. Whitfield teaches more than pre-law; she teaches them to be confident in front of all, to have a voice that can be heard.
