FOCUS: Mr. R is inputting grades.

How well do you know your staff and teachers? No really, how well do you? Probably not that well, but that’s about to change, with these interviews of our teachers and staff.

Today it’s Mr. Plancher, better known as Mr. R., and here are all the answers we need.

What is your full name? Rodney Plancher

What subject do you teach?   I teach Algebra 2 and College Readiness.

Where did you work before Inlet Grove? I had originally worked at Orange Center Elementary in Orlando.

Why be a teacher? I chose to become a teacher because I want to be a positive role model to young black men. I want to be able to show them they can be whatever they set their mind to be, not just a rapper or basketball player. I also wanted to be able to give back to the community.

If you weren’t a teacher what would you be? If I wasn’t a teacher I would be an accountant or I would go into engineering.

How did you come to Inlet? I had gone to Inlet as a teen. Then when I came here to visit, Dr. Banks recognized me and then offered if I wanted to work here I could so I chose to stay.

What college did you attend? I attended University of Central Florida (UCF).

As a teacher what do you feel is your job? I feel as if my job as a teacher is to help kids open their minds to different potentials in life, basically showing them that they can do what they set their mind to; never discourage a student from being something they want to be but rather help them achieve their goals.
