Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras , Mexico , Guatemala, Venezuela, El Salvador , and many more Hispanic countries are celebrated in the United states for a whole month.

“Hispanic heritage month makes me feel more empowered because of all the hardships of every single Hispanic race and culture.” said Danna Lopez a Senior in the Pre-Medical Academy. “It’s empowering to know that you’re Hispanic and a month is dedicated to you.”

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated throughout Sep. 15 to Oct. 15. It’s celebrated yearly especially on these specific dates because it honors many Hispanic countries independence.

Hispanic Heritage month honors and recognizes the history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic Americans.

“I’m from Honduras, proud to be Honduran” said Yunior Torres a Junior from the Architecture Academy. “We got punta, we got baleadas, and we get all the good food.”

“I think we should make more inclusive programs,” said Mr. Lopez, the principal. ” We had the Multicultural Club, that’s something we want to restart this year.”

The Multicultural Club was created about 3 years ago. The club celebrated and combined Hispanic students and other students of different various cultures. The club also helped Canes to interact with each other and do fun activities such as karaoke.

“Not many people know, but I am Hispanic. I was born in Guatemala and moved to the United States,” Said Mr. Lopez. “I am very proud to be Guatemalan, a beautiful country with really really kind people, very hardworking people.”

“I think we should celebrate each other’s cultures because that’s what makes our school special “ said Mr. Lopez.
