Katie Couric: First solo female anchor of CBS news and many news networks after that.

Katie Couric became the first solo CBS female news anchor in 2006 and contributed to the newsmagazine “60 Minutes.” Before that, Couric was a desk assistant at ABC network. After she worked under Sam Donaldson and others, Couric worked at Washington bureau’s CNN for the next seven years. She was a producer and on-air reporter all over the country but became a reporter at an NBC affiliate station in Washington in 1987.
