BOOKS MEET ART: Designs by Commercial Arts instructor Ms. Bakers students were celebrated at the Riviera Beach Library on May 7. Parents and Hurricane staff members were present to support the students, and Chef Newmans Culinary Academy students served refreshments. The Canes artwork will be displayed on the librarys second floor until June 7.

Dozens of Hurricanes stayed into their lunch period to gain even more advice from the top radio executive and his assistant India Weatherspoon, SBG digital account manager.

PEP RALLY: The Canes gathered in the gymnasium again Feb. 15, but this time with a twist: When the lights turned off the gym really started to light up, said Ashley Alceme, a senior in the Medical Academy. During the event students participated in challenges and other contests, and even a Promposal happened. They really went all out for this Pep Rally, said Gaelle Compere.

GIVING BACK: Veterans received generous donations from the Inlet Grove Student Government Association (SGA) on March 15. The SGA has used some of its very successful homecoming dance proceeds to reach out to the community, said Maria Morrison, History instructor and SGA sponsor. The SGA has given a cash donation to Urban Youth Impact in West Palm Beach and has donated approximately 42 care bags to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Riviera Beach. ‘The students were emotionally moved as they listened to how much the donations are needed by our veterans,’ Ms. Morrison said. ‘Additionally, one of the veterans confided that he was having “a bad day” until he saw us and our donations. It was a great afternoon. Stay tuned for more SGA community news.’

ALL AROUND PRO: Todd Morey, Inlet Groves beloved Pre-Architecture and Pre-Engineering instructor, who was accomplished in his field before he began teaching it, is heading off to a great opportunity in the profession. One student spoke for many when she said, Breaks my heart that he is leaving.
